The Great Old Ones ( Orang Tua Hebat) adalah sekelompok makhluk unik dan ganas dengan kekuatan besar. Mereka tinggal di berbagai lokasi di Bumi , dan pernah memimpin planet ini sebagai dewa dan penguasa.
KLASIFIKASI
The Great Old Ones harus dibedakan dari entitas yang lebih kosmis seperti Azathoth , Nyarlathotep dan Yog-Sothoth , dan dari ras seperti Chthonians , Deep Ones , Elder Things , dan Mi-go . Namun perbedaan ini terkadang tidak jelas, sebagian karena terminologinya tidak selalu konsisten; misalnya, Nyarlathotep, terlepas dari minatnya yang nyata pada Bumi dan budayanya, umumnya dianggap sebagai salah satu Dewa Luar , bukan Dewa Tua yang Hebat. Di sisi lain, Hastur memiliki beberapa avatardan umumnya berbasis di luar angkasa, tetapi dia masih dianggap sebagai Orang Tua yang Hebat. Ada akun yang bertentangan tentang klasifikasi yang tepat untuk Shub-Niggurath .
Sangat sedikit orang yang membantah bahwa Azathoth dan Yog-Sothoth adalah Dewa Luar, bukan Dewa Tua Agung, meskipun beberapa catatan menjadikan mereka nenek moyang dari beberapa Dewa Tua Agung.
